Bowling. Brides. Bull riding. Not exactly how I expected my life to go, but here we are.
Hey there! My name is Hadley Kincaid. I’m a Production Designer/Art Director for WhereTraveler and Saint Louis Bride at Morris Communications Company. I’m sure you’re confused where the bull riding comes in. Frankly, I am too.
My graphic design journey started as an internship at the United States Bowling Congress. Yes, this exists, along with an Olympic bowling team! My job included making digital graphics for upcoming competitions, helping out the smaller leagues with logos, and designing banners for the International Bowling Museum. Unfortunately for me, my internship ended before I could dive head first into bowling, but it was an interesting experience!
I then moved on to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as a full-time graphic designer. I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people, while also learning the unique life of a Baptist student. My job included making invitation suites for Trustee banquets, helping make print and digital promotions for Student Life events around campus, and print and digital pieces for Mission Trips. I was also able to make House Crests, think Harry Potter, for the new Houses the Undergrad program decided to start up.
I currently work for Morris Communications Company in the heart of cowboy country—Fort Worth, Texas. I started out helping build ads for city publications like Savannah Magazine, Orlando Magazine, and the WhereTraveler® titles. I then have transitioned to creating the WhereTraveler® magazines and Guestbooks and, the big one, Saint Louis Bride. I love that I get to experience the United States from my desk!
Now for the weird part—bull riding. My coworkers and I got the surprise of a lifetime when the owner of Morris decided to also be the owner of a new PBR Team, Nashville Stampede. I’ve had the pleasure of making print materials in preparation of the upcoming events. I look forward to cheering them on, and learning what else is in store for me.
